Oxley ensures a smooth and supportive transition for international students with our onboarding programs.
Onboarding

A Warm Welcome

At Oxley Christian College, our team warmly welcomes new students at the airport and ensures a smooth transition to their accommodation. Our dedicated college staff assist with all necessary arrangements, including transport, fee registration, visa applications, health cover, and more. Our pastoral care team, consisting of compassionate teachers and counsellors, along with academic support from the Head of Senior School, Head of International Students and Year Level Coordinators, ensures every student feels supported and valued from day one.

Orientation

Our extensive orientation program make students feel at home and confident in their new surroundings. We help students understand the school's expectations, and develop effective study techniques. Students will have a good understanding of their assessment and homework requirements. An orientation camp in Year 11 and 12 ensures they are extra prepared for the challenges of VCE.

Accommodation

Homestay

Many students stay in our arranged homestay accommodations with carefully selected families. Available to students aged 13 and above, we secure a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. Each student enjoys a private room and all meals, integrating into their host families. Our families offer care and support to help students settle into Melbourne life. By living in a homestay students improve their conversational English and can easily adapt to a new culture. Homestay makes their stay enriching and enjoyable.

Homestay may not be available to some applicants, more information can be found on the Department of Education's website.

Responsible Homestay

Homestay Details

For our Senior students in Year 7 to 12, (aged 13 and above) we are able to arrange a Homestay. However, Year 1 to Year 6 students are not eligible for Homestay. International students in Year 1 to 6 must have suitable living arrangements organised by their parents. An example of a suitable living arrangement is the student living with relatives.

Responsible Homestay

Our college prides itself on offering a safe and supportive homestay for students. The Homestay Coordinator personally checks each home and meets with students to ensure their comfort. We do not outsource the Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) to anyone. This direct oversight allows us to guarantee the highest standard of care and support for our students.

The CAAW is a critical document that ensures the welfare and accommodation of international students under 18, and we take great care and diligence in handling this responsibility.

Student Life

Music
